A convoy of similar to dark grey cabs will take 228 veterans and the carers from across the capital within Worthing on the south coast for an event of entertainment and - quite possibly - sunshine.
In total, 114 airport transfer drivers are giving up Tuesday to join the Taxi Charity's annual getaway - which has run each year in view that 1947.
The veterans, some of them Kennsignton and chelsea Pensioners, will be treated to a hero's lunch on Worthing Pier in advance of enjoying wartime-style harmonies from fashion back vocal group the Polka Point Dolls.
